GVK EMRI (Emergency Management and Research Institute) is a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in India. As a not – for – profit professional organization operating in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, GVK EMRI is the largest professional Emergency Service Provider in India today.

April 2005 was the turning point for emergency medical services in India. The organization was incepted with the objective of delivering comprehensive, speedy, reliable and quality Emergency Care Services. This has been done by establishing an Emergency Response System that coordinates every emergency through a single toll free number 1-0-8 which when called in an emergency ensures prompt communication and activation of a response that includes, assessment of the emergency, dispatch of the ambulances, along with a well trained Emergency Medical Technician to render quality pre-hospital care and transport of the patient to the appropriate health care facility.
Today, 108 is synonymous with the best-in-class emergency service and has been acknowledged as the most efficient, speedy, reliable, and caring service provider in its category.
108 is a free telephone number for emergency services It is currently operational in 21 states (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh) and two Union Territories (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.) The 108 Emergency Response Service is a free emergency service providing integrated medical, police and fire emergency services. This system was introduced by nationalwide former union health minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. In Madhya Pradesh, the 108 GVK Ambulance facility was implemented in July 2009 by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, which was inaugurated by Health Minister. Narottam Mishra The service is a public-private partnership between state governments and private EMS providers. This 108 service was started by Ramalinga Raju and Family. Dr.Y.S Rajashekar Reddy who was then the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was the first Chief Minister to sign an agreement with EMRI to roll out services in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Because of the life saving service went so popular mainly in the rural parts of the United Andhra Pradesh later. This (108) system was introduced by Central Government of India. Satyam Infotech As of November 2014, this service had handled over 540,000 emergency cases in India.Telling Siri on an iOS device will call emergency services.
